NatWest hires new chief operating officer

NatWest has appointed Solange Chamberlain as Chief Operating Officer for its Commercial Banking arm.

Chamberlain, who joined the bank in December 2019 from Lloyds Banking Group, will lead commercial banking’s strategy, capital management portfolio, performance and capability, division as well as lead its ongoing change and transformation programmes.

The appointment comes as new chief executive Alison Rose continues her shake-up of the bank’s top team and internal reorganisation, which has so far closed the bank’s standalone digital banking service Bó and led to a rebranding of RBS group to NatWest.

Chamberlain has joined the bank’s top team after a career at Lloyds, where she held various roles in corporate development, treasury, insurance and commercial banking.

Commenting on the appointment, Paul Thwaite, CEO Commercial Banking, said: “I am pleased to welcome Solange to the team. Her experience will be critical to the way we operate, ensuring we deliver against our strategic goals and are even better placed to support our one million commercial banking customers across the UK, both now and in the future.”

Chamberlain has also held roles at at Citigroup, Lazard and Perella Weinberg, advising financial institutions in France and the UK.
