Zopa has appointed mobile technology expert Andrew Hawkins as its new chief technology officer (CTO).
The founder and chief executive of mobile technology agency Umee joins Zopa with over 20 years’ experience across technology and product leadership, having also founded startups and worked for tech giants including Microsoft.
Previous positions include chief product and technology officer at mobile payments startup PepperHQ. and global CTO of digital channels at HSBC, where he helped improve the bank’s customer experience across mobile, browser and staff-assisted channels.
The appointment comes after Zopa was awarded its full bank licence in June.
Zopa’s chief executive Jaidev Janardana said: “Gaining our full bank licence this year has made it possible for us to launch more products that customers love and which help them get the most out of their money.
"We’re delighted to welcome Andrew to the team as we continue to grow and realise our ambition of being the UK’s best place for money.”
Since gaining its banking licence, Zopa has launched its fixed term savings account and will be fully launching its credit card soon.
