Revolut launches first POS device for business customers

Revolut has launched Revolut Reader, its first payments hardware device, for business customers in the UK and Ireland.

The card reader, which is the FinTech unicorn's first move into in-person payment solutions, is being rolled out initially for sole-trader, retail and hospitality businesses.

Revolut said that over the coming months the POS solution will be added to the Revolut Business offer for larger merchants, which will be able to integrate Revolut Reader with existing POS systems.

The lightweight pocket reader is designed to enable merchants with a Revolut Business account to accept card payments via credit and debit cards with Chip and Pin and contactless, including Google Pay and Apple Pay, with fee-free settlement.

Maria Garcia Marti, product owner acquiring, at Revolut, said: “When designing new products, our team always has customer needs in mind: a fast and easy to use solution that will not slow business down, easy access to funds, and receiving payments faster than the industry standard of 2-3 business days.”
