Asian investment bank Nomura has appointed Sameer Jain as chief information officer of its wholesale division.
Jain, based in New York, will report to Jonathan Lewis, group chief administrative officer and chief executive officer at Nomura International, and Steve Ashley, head of the wholesale division.
The IT leader will also report locally to Yo Akatsuka, president and chief executive of Nomura Holding America.
In his new role, Jain will have responsibility for wholesale IT and operations, and will work with wholesale leadership, the digital office, and Nomura's group data department on the delivery of the wholesale digitalisation and data strategy.
Jain is also set to join the wholesale executive committee and chief administrative officer division executive committee.
Jain was previously worked at Barclays, where he held several senior technology roles including group chief technology officer, chief information officer, and head of change and co-chief information officer for the investment bank.
Before joining Barclays in 2006, he was global head of credit derivatives technology at UBS.
"We are delighted to welcome Sameer to Nomura," said Lewis. "With more than 25 years' experience leading global technology teams, Sameer has deep expertise in wholesale banking and in ensuring that technology architecture is aligned to fully support business requirements.”
"Sameer's wealth of experience will be a key asset to Nomura as we continue to deliver best in class products and services to our clients,” said Ashley.
He added: “The banking technology landscape continues to change at a rapid pace, presenting plenty of opportunities for nimble banks to deliver smart client solutions."
