Nationwide has opened a new digital hub in Swindon, which will employ 700 people from the building society’s digital community.
The site is focussed on delivery of new digital services and technological experiences to the building society’s 16 million members.
The company said staff will have access to the latest technology will allow collaboration and agile ways of working across multiple locations. It also hopes the hub will stimulate a multi-million investment in its hometown.
Housed in the new Ramsbury House building, the office has 100 per cent of its energy needs coming from renewable sources and recyclable materials used throughout its construction. A ‘town hall’ space will be available for employee gatherings and for use by the local community or businesses.
Richard Newland, Nationwide’s director of branch and workplace development, said: “This is a multi-million-pound investment for Swindon, the society, our colleagues and our members and will accelerate our approach towards digital innovation and technology.”
In 2019, Nationwide announced plans to open two new hubs, in Swindon and London. Following the opening of Ramsbury House, construction work is underway for The Post Building in Holborn, with its official opening planned for later in 2020.
Justin Tomlinson, MP for North Swindon, said: “This state-of-the-art office will provide the digital and technology skills that will mean that the town will continue to thrive in the future.”
