Alwyn Jones, Monzo’s chief financial officer, is set to join cryptocurrency firm Luno in the same role.
The executive is set to serve out his six-month notice period at the challenger bank while they search for a replacement.
Jones originally joined the bank from Barclays in September 2018, where he had worked since June 2011 after leaving Bain & Company.
This marks the latest high-profile executive to leave Monzo after chief executive and founder Tom Blomfield left in January 2021 citing personal reasons.
Monzo co-founder Paul Rippon departed the company in January 2020 to spend more time on his alpaca farming business, Barnacre Alpacas.
London based Luno, launched in 2013, provides a platform for retail investors to trade cryptocurrency.
The crypto platform currently boasts 5 million customers in 40 countries and a team of over 350.
Luno has received funding from investors including Balderton Capital, RMI, Naspers and Venturra.
Other high ranking FinTech executives have left to join the cryptocurrency space in recent months, Starling Bank co-founder Julian Sawyer recently joined Lunu rival Bitstamp as chief executive in October 2020.
