HSBC has reached a long term strategic cloud agreement with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to drive digital transformation and deliver new and personalised banking services.
Under the terms of the multi-year, global agreement, HSBC will make AWS’ cloud technology available across the bank’s lines of business, starting with customer-facing applications and application modernization in its global wealth & personal banking business.
The migration will enable HSBC to automate key processes, drive innovation of new services and enhance operational efficiency across a range of personal financial services across its global operations.
As part of the agreement, HSBC will use AWS’s portfolio of cloud services, including compute, containers, storage, database, analytics, machine learning, and security, to develop new digital products and support security and compliance standards.
HSBC said it is planning to use AWS serverless and analytics services, including Amazon’s Kinesis service, to create a more personalized and customer-centric banking experience.
Commenting on the agreement, Dinesh Keswani, chief technology officer and CIO for digital, at HSBC said: “Our ambition is to make it easy, safe, and reliable for customers to bank with us, whenever and wherever they are.
