Scottish cryptocurrency platform Zumo has made four hires into key roles as it expands its team following a £1.6 million fundraise.
The Edinburgh-based company, which launches its cryptocurrency wallet and payments platform in 2018, has made the four hires as part of a seven-person expansion, taking total staff numbers to 24, with recruiting still open for another five roles.
The expansion comes after Zumo raised £1.6 million in its latest Seedrs crowdfund.
The app, which is built on decentralized, patent pending, HD wallet infrastructure, enables users to store, send, spend and exchange digital money anywhere in the world from a mobile device.
Dagmara Aldridge has joined Zumo as the company’s first chief operating officer (COO), after a 15 years career across the payments, financial services and FinTech sectors.
She was previously head of operations, change and delivery for CashFlows, and before that was in various leadership roles with Valitor, Travis Perkins and Barclaycard.
Meanwhile Piette Cyrus joins the company from Modulr to focus on regulatory technology and compliance as a compliance associate.
Industry veteran Angela Stevenson has been appointed Zumo’s new customer support manager, and brings more than 27 years of industry experience to the firm.
Amelie Arras has also joined as marketing director. She has previously claimed the record of being the first woman to travel the world using only Bitcoin.
Commenting on the hires, Aldridge said: “Many believe that the world of digital assets is built by men for men, but this isn’t an exclusive boys’ club.
“Cryptocurrency is inclusive and promotes financial empowerment,” she continued, adding: “It’s vital that future generations of girls - aspiring women leaders - see strong female role models in leadership positions as the norm in tech.”
