Clim8 green investment app raises £1.35m

Sustainable investment app Clim8 has raised £1.35 million as part of a pre-launch crowdfunding campaign.

Last month, the company announced it had raised £502,920 from 288 investors in its pre-launch fundraise on the CrowdCube platform.

It has now closed the round at £1.35 million with participation from 1,200 investors, including venture capital fund 7percent Ventures and directors of N26 and Monese.

The digital platform, which enables investors to back climate-change conscious and ‘green’ businesses, has a waiting list of more than 5,000 customers ahead of a planned launched this summer.

It will enable users to invest into a targeted portfolio of companies that are making a positive impact on climate change. Sector focuses are clean energy and technology, sustainable food, electric mobility and recycling.

Founder and chief executive Duncan Grierson commented: “The mission of Clim8 is to provide an easy to use digital platform so that anyone can invest into companies that are making an impact on climate change - we are very excited to have exceeded our funding targets, confirming strongly that investors believe that sustainability investing is a growth sector.”

Andrew J Scott, founding partner at 7percent Ventures, said: "Our fund only invests into startups that have the potential to be billion dollar companies - Clim8 have developed a fantastic idea that can have an impact on the global challenge of climate change and build a valuable platform."
