Blockchain Technology Partners hires non-exec chair

Blockchain Technology Partners (BTP) has appointed Paul Forrest as its inaugural non-executive chairman, who also participated in the startup's latest angel funding round, led by Aberdeen Asset Management co-founder and Revolut chairman Martin Gilbert.

Forrest has over 25 years experience as a strategy consultant, advising businesses including Ford Motor Company, Wal-Mart, Virgin Galactic and AkzoNobel. He also serves on the board of several early stage businesses, including MBN Solutions where he built its blockchain practice.

“Paul understands the potential for growth in enterprise blockchain adoption, having been involved in this space for several years and at the cutting edge of successive waves of innovative enterprise technologies throughout his career,” said Duncan Johnston-Watt, chief executive and co-founder of BTP. “We are delighted Paul has decided to take up this role and help us scale the business and lay the groundwork for future investment."

Forrest commented: “Given the present circumstances, I was particularly impressed by their ability to secure a contract with the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange to deliver their innovative blockchain-based securities lending platform.”

Gilbert commented: “We are pleased to see that BTP has strengthened its corporate governance with the appointment of Paul Forrest, his experience complements a leadership team that has the vision and expertise to deliver their clear value proposition.”

Founded in 2018, BTP aims to bring the benefits of blockchain and smart contracts to business by providing Sextant — a management platform that simplifies the deployment and ongoing management of distributed ledger infrastructure.

BTP has a strategic partnership with Digital Asset and its customers include the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange and Quantum Materials.

The business has offices in Edinburgh and New York and is a member of the Global Business Blockchain Council, Hyperledger, Cloud Native Computing Foundation, ScotlandIS and techUK.
