BBVA to open 2 tech centres in Bilbao

BBVA has said that it will create 200 jobs with the opening of two new technology centres in Bilbao.

The centres will include specialised roles such as computer, telecommunications, systems, and industrial engineers, as well as mathematicians.

BBVA’s chairman Carlos Torres Vila, said that new sites will play a key role in the bank’s operations and strategy.

"We expect that, in the next two years, they will have around 200 professionals specialised in areas such as advanced cloud architectures, cloud computing, security and data," added Torres Vila.

The centres, which are a part of the bank’s technology businesses BBVA Next Technologies and BBVA IT, will be established during the first quarter of the year.

BBVA Next Technologies is a company specialising in software engineering. The company nearly 900 experts who provide strategy and solution development services across cloud, data, and security.

BBVA IT develops critical services for the bank, including its digital factory, and provides support to central services and data. It has over 750 employees, mostly software developers and big data experts.
