American Express partners Coupa for virtual card

American Express and business expenses firm Coupa are set to launch a virtual AmEx card on Coupa’s digital business spend management platform.

The integration with Coupa Pay is set to be available to American Express corporate customers in the UK and Australia before the end of the year and in the United States midway through 2020.

The AmEx virtual card solution will enable businesses to pay for goods and service through the Coupa platform without the need for a physical card. Once the business' eligible American Express account is tied to Coupa Pay, virtual cards can automatically be sent to authorised suppliers.

American Express said the partnership will give businesses the ability to better manage supplier payments.

Dean Henry, executive vice president of business financing and supplier payments at American Express, said: “Our priority is to seamlessly unify the buyer and supplier customer experience and as part of this mission, we seek to partner with innovative companies who help to make electronic business payments easier.”
