Standard Chartered poaches Ole Matthiessen from Deutsche Bank

Standard Chartered has announced the appointment Ole Matthiessen as global head of transaction services and digital assets.

Matthiessen joins the bank from Deutsche Bank, where he held a range of senior roles, including co-head of the corporate bank division and member of the group management committee.

He has extensive experience across transaction banking, derivatives, structured lending solutions and capital markets.

In his new role, Matthiessen will lead a newly unified team in corporate and investment banking (CIB). This includes transaction banking, which covers trade, payments and cash management, as well as financing and securities services, which involves custody, clearing and settlement. He will also oversee CIB’s digital asset activities.

Ole will be based in Singapore and will join the CIB management team, reporting to Roberto Hoornweg, chief executive of the corporate and investment bank.

Hoornweg said: “Ole is a strong addition to the team as we bring together transaction banking and financing and securities services, and bridge traditional finance and decentralised finance. Integrating these areas with our growing digital asset capabilities will help us strengthen the cross-border services we provide to our corporate and financial institution clients.”
