Citigroup has appointed Ryan Beaupré as a managing director, according to an internal memo seen by Reuters.
Beaupré is due to officially start in September. In the role, Beaupré will oversee Citi’s deals and relationships in the convenience, food and drug retail, and food distribution sectors.
"Ryan's appointment underscores our commitment to further strengthen our consumer and retail franchise and expand our retail footprint,” said Stacia Ryan, head of consumer and retail at Citi, in the memo seen by Reuters.
She continued: “His deep client relationships, sector expertise, and proven track record across advisory and capital markets will be instrumental in driving growth and expanding our market share.”
Beaupré comes to Citi from UBS, where he served for over two years as managing director for investment banking overseeing retail and consumer verticals. Prior to this he spent over nine years at Credit Suisse in its investment banking division.
Citi has made a several high-profile staff changes in recent months. Earlier this week Reuters reported the firm had hired Andrew Conway, former vice chairman of consumer and retail investment banking at Bank of America, as new global chair of consumer and retail investment banking.
In February, it formed a dedicated AI infrastructure banking team including senior leaders from its investment banking and corporate banking divisions. The team will oversee opportunities for Citi linked to data centres, computing infrastructure, and digital assets.
Continuing its focus on AI role changes, in May the firm promoted its chief technology officer David Griffiths to group head of AI, to oversee a more unified approach to the bank’s AI strategy.
