Nuvei boosts executive team with two hires

Canadian FinTech Nuvei has boosted its leadership team with the appointment of Moshe Selfin and Chad Gerhardstein as chief product officer and chief risk and compliance officer respectively.

Selfin joins the FinTech from Shift4-backed Finaro, where he most recently served as chief operations and technology officer.

He joined the firm in 2011 as chief revenue and marketing officer, with responsibilities including the execution of the firm’s corporate vision, and direct management of the sales, operations, marketing, business operations, support and integration departments. Prior to this, he held senior positions at well-known firms including IBM and Anobit Technologies.

At Nuvei, his tasks will include leading the firm’s global product strategy and development, focusing on expanding the FinTech's suite of customer-centric payment solutions, and expanding its technology stack’s global footprint.

Gerhardstein joins from PwC, where he joined in 2020 as cyber risk and reg partner specialising in cyber risk and regulation for the FinTech, payments, and digital assets sectors.

He previously held senior positions at Vantiv and served as chief compliance officer at Worldpay.

In his role at Nuvei, Gerhardstein will be tasked with strengthening the FinTech's global risk management and compliance framework with a focus on boosting international expansion.

Selfin will report to Nuvei chair and chief executive officer Philip Fayer, while Gerhardstein will report to chief financial officer David Schwartz.

As Nuvei announced the move, it said that it plans to boost its investment in product innovation and risk management and compliance capabilities, to reinforce the company’s commitment to delivering innovative payment solutions.

Philip Fayer, Nuvei's chair and chief executive, commented on Selfin’s appointment: "Moshe's proven track record in strategic planning and delivery for fast-growing technology businesses will accelerate our product innovation.”

He also commented on Gerhardstein’s new role in the firm: “Chad's deep expertise in risk and compliance will be invaluable in supporting Nuvei's customers with seamless market entry while maintaining robust risk management practices and regulatory compliance across all jurisdictions."
