Barclays appoints global head of leveraged finance

Barclays has announced the appointment of Na Wei as its new global head of leveraged finance.

Wei will continue in her capacity as head of leveraged finance for EMEA, with the bank praising her leadership in the role as contributing to its rise from seventh to third in Dealogic’s ranking of the leveraged finance market.

The executive has been at Barclays for over 16 years, joining as a director in 2007. She was previously a Deutsche Bank analyst following her graduation from the University of Warwick.

Wei will report to Travis Barnes and Tom Johnson, global co-heads of capital markets at the bank. Johnson praised the executive for creating a “disciplined focus on delivering strategic capital to our most important clients,” and said that the bank is “confident that under Na’s leadership we will be best positioned for future success.”

Johnson added: “Through her leadership of the EMEA franchise, Na installed a disciplined focus on delivering strategic capital to our most important clients. We firmly believe that she can replicate this mindset across our global business, putting us in the strongest possible position to further increase our market share in the US and globally.”
