Amazon expands BNPL service to business customers

Amazon has expanded its partnership with Affirm to allow Amazon Business customers to use the by now pay later (BNPL) service.

The payment method is available to sole proprietors based in the US, with the e-commerce giant saying it will be rolled out by Black Friday across its website and mobile app.

Amazon claims the partnership will increase the purchasing power of the 28 million sole proprietors based in the US and allow them to “better manage their cash flow”.

Affirm first launched on Amazon’s US website and mobile app in 2021 and expanded to Amazon in Canada the following year. The BNPL service was integrated as a payment option on Amazon Pay earlier this year.

“We’re constantly striving to make Amazon Business the best place for small businesses to fulfil their buying needs,” said Todd Heimes, director of Amazon Business Worldwide. “Integrating Affirm as a payment option helps us do just that, while providing more flexibility and convenience to our customers.”

He added: “The technology, ease of integration, and ability to support a broad range of transactions—especially as Affirm is already used by millions of Amazon customers today—make this a natural extension of our larger partnership.”
