Revolut to launch in Latin America, Middle East and South Asia

Revolut is launching a version of its app across five new countries in Latin America, the Middle East and South Asia.

The FinTech will launch a streamlined version of its app enabling secure money transfers in Sri Lanka, Chile, Ecuador, Azerbaijan, and Oman over the next few months.

Revolut said a waitlist will open which will give some registered customers early access.

To join, individuals can download the app on their smartphones and sign up on Google Play and the App Store.

Customers in additional countries can transfer money to more than 50 countries.

The FinTech, which currently counts 18 million customers of its app, said it is planning to launch in dozens more countries by the end of 2022, with additional features set to be added soon.

There is no fee for transfers between Revolut customers, and a one per cent fee to non-Revolut bank accounts with a $1 USD minimum fee for customers in the five new countries.

Vlad Yatsenko, chief technology officer at Revolut, said:“We’re delighted to launch the Revolut app in another five countries, as we continue to expand access to Revolut's fast, secure, and easy money transfers to countries around the world.

He added: “Traditional transfers can sting customers with hidden fees, but we’re waiving all our transfer fees if you’re both on Revolut - no matter where you are. Additionally, we’re always offering the best possible exchange rate that we can - something we’re extremely proud of.”
