NatWest strengthens retail banking team with three new appointments

NatWest has announced the appointment of three senior leaders to its retail banking executive team.

Tamara van den Ban has been appointed premier managing director. She joins the form from  Lloyd’s Banking Group where she worked for over two years and held the role of customer and commercial director.

Prior to joining Lloyds, van den Ban held senior roles at Standard Chartered Bank, HSBC, and ING across Asia and Europe.  

In her new role, van den Ban will run the full end to end Premier business, including responsibility for the customer experience and business outcomes.

NatWest said it has set out clear ambitions for Premier and van den Ban will lead the strategy to grow Premier to 1 million customers and treble the number of retail customers investing with NatWest.

Des McDaid will join NatWest as its director of everyday banking from Goldman Sachs where he worked for over eight years, most recently as managing director of Marcus UK.

Throughout his 35-year career, McDaid has he;d a number of senior roles at companies including TSB, Paragon Group and ING Direct.

Additionally, NatWest said Judith Cruickshank has been appointed chief operating officer, retail banking.

She joined the NatWest Group in 2008 and has worked in a variety of roles within the bank, most recently serving as regional manager director for Scotland.

“It’s an exciting time for NatWest as we support our customers’ evolving needs and their combined experience and leadership will help us to help even more customers and deepen our engagement with them,” said Solange Chamberlain, chief executive of retail banking. “Together, Tamara, Des and Judith, will help us continue to transform Retail Banking and Premier, supporting our youth, families and affluent customers to make real progress with their financial ambitions.”
