Aviva enables Alexa functionality

Aviva has partnered with Amazon to enable customers to find out how much they have saved in their pension fund through a conversation with AI bot Alexa.

Customers registered on MyAviva are now able to link their account with Alexa, asking the voice assistant to tell them the value of their pension pot. Aviva Canada have also developed a skill which allows consumers to ask Alexa for a motor insurance quote.

According to research from Aviva, 33 per cent of people believe easier access to their pension balance would increase engagement. Only better education on how pensions worked ranked higher (36 per cent).

The survey also found that only a third of consumers check their pension balance annually, with 21 per cent of respondents stating that they currently check the balance less than once a year.

Blair Turnbull, managing director of UK and international digital at Aviva, commented: “Increasing people’s interest in pension saving will only happen if we make it easy for them to check on their progress. The Aviva Alexa skill and our MyAviva app can really help people take control of their retirement planning.”
