The Payments Association has appointed Emma Banymandhub as chief executive officer as part of its efforts to expand its presence internationally.
Banymandhub previously served as chief operating officer at the trade organisation. She takes on the role following a period of growth in which it tripled its headcount and expanded commercial activities.
She has over 17 years of experience in events, commercial growth and industry community building. During her time as chief operating officer, she oversaw the expansion of PAY360, which the association described as the UK’s largest payments-focused event, alongside the Pay360 Awards and wider member engagement initiatives.
The Payments Association currently represents over 250 organisations across the financial services sector, and is aiming to transform itself into a broader international industry network instead of solely focusing on the UK.
The organisation added it would continue its policy and regulatory engagement work alongside its international ambitions. The organisation has previously campaigned on issues including authorised push payment (APP) fraud reimbursement rules, engaging with regulators and government bodies on behalf of members.
The Payments Association works with organisations including the Bank of England, Financial
Conduct Authority, HM Treasury, Pay.UK and Innovate Finance.
"Emma’s promotion is exactly what our community needs,” said Tony Craddock, founder of The Payments Association. “She brings an enthusiasm for the unbeatable combination of community and events that makes us different.
“I have every confidence that her appointment marks the start of a more influential, more international and more powerful force for good in the payments industry."
