Nordea Bank is preparing for the digital revolution by ‘hiring’ a host of virtual employees across the Nordic countries.
The Swedish Life and Pensions arm of the bank has designed and built Liv – a virtual assistant brought in to help human colleagues “focus on delivering great customer experience and performing more creative and complex tasks”.
Liv is one of a couple of recently hired virtual employees at Nordea, with the bank also introducing Sirius in Finland, Erna in Denmark and Roberta in Norway, among others.
The bank states that using Liv will give human employees more time to work with creative and more complex tasks, while the bank as a whole can achieve digital transformation at greater speeds. Since implementing the bot, Nordea has seen 80 per cent faster processing speeds, a 100 per cent reduction in errors and increased compliance.
In addition, the bank has said that it is already working with rule-based robotics initiatives, and will look at introducing cognitive robots with artificial intelligence at a later date.
Mattias Fras, group head of robotics strategy and innovation at Nordea Bank, said: “There are a lot of activities in progress right now to get the new technology on board and use it optimally. Our ambition, and goal, is to be market leader.
“I’m happy and excited to be part of Nordea as it embraces the new technology. If we mobilise the right people around the challenges I see a bright and exciting future. In these times of greater accessibility to new technology.”
