Google and PayPal partner to boost agenticAI commerce

Google and PayPal have entered a multi-year strategic partnership aimed at strengthening the digital commerce landscape through the integration of agentic AI-powered shopping and payment experiences.

As part of the collaboration, PayPal solutions – including PayPal branded checkout, Hyperwallet, and PayPal Payouts – will be integrated into a range of Google products to support seamless user journeys.

PayPal Enterprise Payments will become a leading provider for card payment processing across Google Cloud, Google Ads, and Google Play, reinforcing PayPal’s position as a trusted payment solution within Google’s core platforms.

The partnership brings together PayPal’s global payment infrastructure, data-driven personalisation, and identity solutions with Google’s expertise in artificial intelligence. The goal is to deliver new AI-powered and agentic commerce experiences, where AI agents help consumers shop, transact, and make decisions autonomously.

Sundar Pichai, chief executive of Google and Alphabet, said the partnership aims to make online transactions simpler and more secure, while setting a new standard for the commerce ecosystem. “Through this partnership, PayPal will use our industry-leading AI to enhance services and security, and we will more deeply integrate PayPal’s innovative payment capabilities for a better experience across Google products and platforms,” he commented.

Alex Chriss, president and chief executive of PayPal, added: “We are bringing PayPal’s products and services to billions of Google users and redefining what’s possible at global scale.”
