AmEx partners Tink to launch European Open Banking service

American Express has partnered with Open Banking platform Tink to improve the onboarding process for new European card members.

By integrating Open Banking tech into the American Express application, the move will enable prospective card members to connect their bank accounts and instantly verify their identity, income, and account information with the financial services company.

The partnership will eliminate the need for customers to manually enter their details or send additional documentation to American Express.

Tink’s Open Banking services will be used by the business across France, Germany, Spain, Sweden, the Netherlands, Norway, Finland, and Belgium.

American Express currently has over 100 million cards in operation worldwide.

"Our partnership with Tink will help make it easier and faster for future customers to apply for our American Express products digitally,” said Fredrik Sauter, head of growing markets at American Express. “Open Banking technology not only speeds up the digital application process, but also helps us make better decisions.”
