More than two in ten Brits are in favour of a cashless society, according to YouGov data analysed by MoneyTransfers.com.
But the research also found that compared to other countries, the UK is relatively low down on the list at 14th.
The research revealed that India was the number one spot, with 79 per cent of the country in favour of a cashless society.
In second was Malaysia at 65 per cent, closely followed by United Arab Emirates at 63 per cent.
Italy was the European country highest in the list at 52 per cent.
France showed the least interest in a cashless society, with just 18 per cent in favour of a switch to no cash.
