Wirecard extends ‘boon’ payments service

Wirecard’s new mobile payments solution ‘boon’ is now available on Android smartphones in Spain and Ireland.

The app enables smartphone payments at any NFC-capable PoS terminal which accepts MasterCard contactless payments, and also includes an overview of all transactions made in real time. boon has been available via the Google Play Store in Germany, Austria, Belgium and the Netherlands since the end of November.

The service is based on a digital pre-paid MasterCard issued by Wirecard, which can be topped up via credit card or bank transfer. Wirecard said it also plans to expand the product to include loyalty offers and financial services such as microcredits and peer-to-peer payments.
