Visa expands Click to Pay to APAC region

Visa has extended its Click to Pay service across Asia Pacific, working with payment providers including 2C2P, Adyen, AsiaPay and Worldpay.

The service allows online shoppers to complete transactions without entering card details, using tokenised information linked to a mobile number or email address. This removes the need for manual entry and complex logins, helping to reduce cart abandonment rates, which can reach up to 84 per cent.

Click to Pay supports biometric authentication through payment passkeys, so users can confirm payments with their device. As transactions are tokenised, merchants benefit from improved security and an average increase of 2.5 per cent in payment success rates.

Visa has rolled out Click to Pay in partnership with ZA Bank in Hong Kong, where it is a standard cardholder feature, and has launched the service in Vietnam and the UK, including through a recent partnership with Worldpay.

The rollout is part of Visa’s wider strategy to improve digital commerce in Asia Pacific. The company is also advancing AI-enabled payment solutions and new partnerships across the region. Visa's recent announcements include Visa Intelligent Commerce, a set of APIs and partner programmes for AI platforms, and new services to support stablecoin payments, flexible card credentials, and digital identity tools.

Visa Pay, another new service, will connect digital wallets to Visa’s network, enabling more ways to pay both online and in-store. Visa Accept will let micro-sellers receive payments directly to eligible Visa debit cards using NFC-enabled smartphones, launching first in Vietnam.

Visa said these initiatives are designed to support the region’s high mobile phone usage and demand for digital payments, aiming to deliver secure, convenient, and flexible payment experiences for consumers, merchants, and businesses.

“Visa is accelerating the rollout of Click to Pay to simplify the e-commerce checkout experience across Asia Pacific,” said T.R. Ramachandran, head of products and solutions, Asia Pacific, Visa. “Through strategic collaborations with 2C2P, Adyen, AsiaPay, and Worldpay, we are helping merchants increase sales, banks to deepen customer engagement, and consumers enjoy quicker, secure checkouts.”
