TPG to launch pan-European pre-paid mobile payment service rivalling Visa, Mastercard

The Payments Group (TPG) has become the first pan-European issuer of Bluecode’s payment system, a pre-paid mobile payment service that rivals the likes of Visa and Mastercard.

As part of its new partnership with Bluecode, TPG will offer residents across all Eurozone countries access to the prepaid mobile payment solution.

TPG operates internationally and works with several global online merchants across various industries.

Its customers can use more than 550,000 point of sale cash payment stations and a global online prepaid card network to process cash and cashless online payments.

Its new service is available via the Bluecode app in Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Cyprus, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia and Spain.

The new service, which is designed to work directly with users' bank accounts, offers a prepaid payment system where payments are authorised and deducted directly from the bank account at the time of purchase.

The service be activated in minutes and topped up via SEPA transfers, credit and debit cards, or other local payment methods.

It also aims to eliminate the risk of excessive spending, allowing users to protect their data and funds and benefit from complete control over spending without the complexities of credit checks or hidden fees.

Users also have access to Bluecode's growing interoperability with European and international payment ecosystems.Jens Bader, chief executive of The Payments Group, said the launch aims to offer a payment solution that reflects Europe's commitment to privacy, security and user empowerment.

“Our prepaid offering gives people across Europe access to a European way to pay - built on European infrastructure, governed by European regulation, and aligned with the values that matter most to European users,” he said.
