NatWest appoints David Grunwald as innovation director

NatWest Group has announced that it is appointing David Grunwald as director of innovation and partnerships.

Grunwald is joining the bank from venture capital company ARIE, which works with start-ups in EMEA and Asia. He has also previously worked at fashion tech platform Farfetch.

In the newly created role of innovation director, he will focus on how the bank carries out its strategy through partnerships and innovation.

“We’re delighted to have someone with David’s expertise joining us at a time when serving our customers in new ways to offer great experiences, powered by industry-leading partnerships and innovation is key to helping us unlock our growth potential,” said Scott Marcar, group chief information officer.

Grunwald will be working closely with the services and the strategy, corporate development and sustainability leadership teams, and will report to Scott Marcar and Matt Austen, director of strategy, corporate development & sustainability.
