ING appoints new UK chief risk officer

ING has announced the appointment of Julieta Susara as chief risk officer (CRO) for the United Kingdom.

Susara joins the firm from Nomura where she has worked since 2008. She held several senior leadership roles at the investment firm including global head of financial institutions and regulated funds.

She played a key role as deputy chief risk officer and head of credit risk management at Nomura Financia Products Europe in Frankfurt, where she established the risk management department for the European continental franchise.

In her new role Susara will oversee ING’s risk management framework in the UK to ensure robust governance in support of the company’s sustainable growth and long-term client relationships.

She will also lead strategic initiatives to strengthen risk culture and regulatory compliance across the organisation.

ING said that risk management is a key part of its strategy and underpins its commitment to growth, adding that Susara’s appointment will ensure the function continues to be embedded
into daily operations and strategic planning, providing confidence and resilience for clients.

“Julieta brings a strong track record in risk leadership and a client-centric approach,” said Alexandra MacMahon, UK country manager at ING. “As we continue to deepen relationships with UK corporates and financial institutions, she will help us maintain a disciplined risk culture while enabling growth that is sustainable for ING and our clients.”
