Esi Eshun joins British Business Bank

British Business Bank has appointed Esi Eshun as its new general counsel and company secretary, effective from November 2023.

Eshun joins the bank from UK Export Finance, the UK’s export and credit agency and a government department, where she was director of legal and compliance. She worked across a range of legal matters including combatting fraud and corruption.

She has also serviced as the interim director of Business Group, overseeing the department’s underwriting, origination and communications.

Eshun succeeds Elizabeth O’Neill in the role, who left the Bank in July.

Louis Taylor, chief executive of British Business Bank said: “I’m very pleased to welcome Esi as our new general counsel and company secretary. As one of the most senior and respected lawyers in government, and with a really strong business sense, Esi brings a wealth of relevant experience to the British Business Bank, and I look forward to working with her as a key member of our senior leadership team and executive committee.”
