CommBank rolls out AI training for all employees

The Commonwealth Bank of Australia (CommBank) is rolling out a microlearning series designed to teach employees about AI topics including generative AI and deep learning.

The bank said move will support better customer experience and allow employees to gain skills for their required roles.

The service was launched in May this year to around 43,000 CommBank employees. The nine learning module videos have generated around 22,000 collective views since the launch.

The microlearning series is part of the bank’s plans to integrate AI into its banking ecosystem and ensure its employees are ready to use the full power of AI technology.

CommBank said the video series will ensure that employees can use AI safely and responsibly to solve the right problems.

“At CommBank, customer obsession is part of our DNA, and we want to deliver exceptional experiences for every single customer, every single time,” said Dr Andrew McMullan, CommBank’s chief data and analytics officer. “To do this we need to use AI better than anyone has before, and we can’t do that without our people.

“We're building a customer-obsessed culture and empowering our people with the skills for the future is a key part of that.”
