Turkish digital bank Yapi Kredi is set to install eye scanning technology into its app, allowing customers to log in securely, without having to use their password.
Yakup Dogan, assistant general manager of Yapi Kredi, commented: “Our mobile banking application, renewed in line with our long-standing role as the pioneer of the sector, allows us to take the boldest steps in modern banking. We have leveraged advanced eye scanning technology for the first time in Europe as a highly secure login system for Yapı Kredi Mobile that scans eye blood vessels of the user, which is unique for each customer.”
Customers of the bank are also able to make contactless money withdrawals from ATMs via a QR code, and can also now send money without having to select from either EFT or remittance. The bank also introduced an AI chatbot through Facebook Messenger, which allows customers to complete transactions that do not require ID verification.
Dogan continued: “We evaluated and met with over 1,000 FinTech and startups from various fields. We consider these new ventures, which may seem like rivals at first, as an opportunity for us instead. We adopt a strategy that seeks to find common fields of work with these companies as well as to invest in them. We made our first collaboration in developing our eye scan login feature.”
