Wrisk crowdfunds £1m for growth

Wrisk completed its latest equity crowdfunding campaign on Seedrs, raising a total of £978,682.

The funding round was launched earlier this spring, originally seeking £750,000. The UK-based InsurTech startup raised £1 million through its second Seedrs initiative less than a year ago.

Funds will be used to add new lines of insurance, particularly in automotive; improve accessibility via its mobile app and website; and scale adoption to circa 700 new customers a month.

Wrisk has already secured partnerships with the likes of Munich RE, Hiscox and BMW.

It was selected to join the 2016 BMW Innovation Lab - the first ever automotive FinTech incubator - and last September, it launched its first car insurance service for BMW and MINI as their sole UK motor insurance partner.

By the end of February 2019, the company had attracted more than 4,000 customers and £1.8 million in gross written premiums.
