Uber has collaborated with Barclaycard US to launch an Uber Visa Card, which offers rewards to customers through the ride-hailing firm’s mobile app.
The card will have no annual fee for customers and features a $100 starting bonus, as well as an annual $50 credit on digital subscription services such as Netflix if customers spend more than $5,000 on their card per year.
The credit card, which will be available from November, will also offer cashback on the purchase of various goods and services: four per cent cashback on dining including UberEATS, three per cent on hotel and airfares, two per cent for online purchases, and one per cent on all other purchases.
Curt Hess, CEO of Barclaycard US, commented: “We have built a successful US business with a focus on deepening loyalty and engagement with our partners’ customers. This is the richest no annual fee card in the market.
“While tailored with Uber riders at the heart of it, we believe the richness of the product will appeal to a broad base. Innovation means building a new programme from the ground up with a partner who is a leading disruptor in payments and commerce.”
