U.S. Bank prepares for banking hackathon

U.S. Bank has teamed up with API services provider Akana for the upcoming small business banking hackathon in Silicon Valley on 27 and 28 August. The bank is encouraging developer teams to create innovative solutions to improve productivity, financial stability and customer experiences for small businesses.

The APIs will be set up and hosted on Akana’s platform, and the company’s staff will be available to coach participants in leveraging the APIs and troubleshoot any issues that may arise.

Doug Nielson, senior vice president of innovation research and development at U.S. Bank, commented: “APIs are fundamental building blocks in the digital economy that allow banks to develop new solutions for customers and clients, and enable us to partner seamlessly with developers and cutting-edge FinTech startups.”

“We have previously partnered on several internal U.S. Bank hackathons to drive internal innovation,” added Roberto Medrano, executive VP at Akana. “And now the U.S. Bank team is ready to extend their innovations to an external audience.”
