Trustly takes iDEAL payments Europe-wide

Trustly has become a licensed Collecting Payment Service Provider (CPSP) for the Netherlands’ iDEAL payment scheme.

iDEAL processes 200 million transactions annually, accounting for more than half of all online purchases made by Dutch consumers. Over 75 payment service providers currently offer iDEAL services to merchants and other beneficiaries, such as utilities and governments.

As an iDEAL CPSP certificate holder, Sweden-based Trustly will now be able to offer payment solutions to merchants for consumers of Dutch banks including ABN AMRO, ASN Bank, ING, Knab, Rabobank, Regiobank, SNS Bank, Triodos Bank and Van Lanschot Bankiers. Through Trustly, Dutch consumers will be able to shop across Europe using iDEAL as a payment method.

Piet Mallekoote, CEO of Currence and brand owner of iDEAL, said: “We are delighted that our relationship with Trustly enables Dutch consumers to pay with iDEAL in new European markets outside of the Netherlands through a trusted alternative. Being part of the Trustly pan-European payment product portfolio gives iDEAL the opportunity to reach additional multi-national businesses where Trustly is the primary payments provider, particularly in such important e-commerce regions like the Nordics, Germany and the UK.”
