TransferWise rolls out Facebook Messenger bot

TransferWise has integrated its payments platform with Facebook Messenger, enabling customers to send money and set up rate alerts directly from the social messaging app.

The chatbot is able to set up transfers from the US, UK, Canada, Australia and Europe, guiding customers through each step. If users make regular payments between two currencies, rate alerts can be set up to stay updated on the daily exchange rate.

The bot was built using the TransferWise API, which allows users to make payments across more than 600 currency routes worldwide. Companies and marketplaces can integrate with the API to make international and domestic payments at any scale.

Scott Miller, head of global partnerships at TransferWise, said: “Our mission at TransferWise is to bring faster, cheaper, and more convenient international money transfers to everyone in the world. Building the TransferWise bot for Messenger is a great step in that direction.

“It’s also a powerful example of how our API can be used to seamlessly integrate TransferWise into almost any messaging, bank, or business payment system.”
