Tandem tests auto saving feature

Digital challenger bank Tandem has invited its existing app users to help test a new Autosavings proposition.

During the beta phase, users will be encouraged to feedback suggestions for improvement, report bugs and discuss their savings habits to help build a product that is relevant for them.

This 11,000-strong group of bank app users have helped build a suite of products, with Autosavings being the latest innovation.

After a full launch planned for later this year, every Tandem app user will be able to set up an account with smart savings rules. This will make it easy to set aside affordable amounts and earn interest.

Rules include an option to round up money spent, with the additional money being deposited into the current account, while others use data aggregation to calculate small increments to be automatically saved.

Matt Ford, product director at Tandem, commented: “When we talk to our customers almost everyone says they want to save more, but struggle getting into the right habits – they often just end up feeling guilty about the whole process of saving.

“We’re aiming to make it easy for anyone to make a positive change in their financial life, and this beta test will help us get there.”
