Schroders launches tech start-up incubator

Schroders is launching a global in-residence programme for tech startups.

Via the Cobalt programme, Schroders will support and collaborate with financial services-focused startups - specifically those which have progressed beyond the conceptual or early-growth stage and offer solutions relevant to investment management.

Selected firms will get direct access to appropriate business divisions within Schroders, resources and potential investment.

Applications are now open, with startups assessed to ensure they are closely aligned with Schroders’ business priorities and culture, as well as identify innovative solutions which will deliver tangible benefits within 12 months.

A bespoke arrangement will be agreed with participating startups - which will base themselves within the investment manager - detailing the length and respective terms of the collaboration.

The firm’s chief digital officer Graham Kellen said that by collaborating with tech startups, it can tackle legacy technology issues with problem-solving innovation. “In turn, the startups we choose to work with will also profit from our industry expertise and resources to fast-track their development,” he added.
