New global head of financial services at SAP

Barclays' old chief information officer (CIO), Dominic Trotta, is leaving to join SAP as senior vice president and global head of financial services. Based in Germany and New York, Dominic will be responsible for SAP's product strategy in his new role, and for development activities and overall market positioning in the banking and insurance sectors.

Dominic Trotta, commonly known as Don, will report to Bob Stutz, a member of the executive council and vice president of industry solutions at SAP, and brings more than 25 years' worth of experience to his new role as head of FS at SAP from various IT positions at Citi, Chase Manhattan and other firms. He is a well known figure in the financial services sector, holding positions such as chief technology officer and CIO at top-tier global institutions including Barclays and American Express. Over the years, Trotta has also served on numerous financial services' and CIO advisory boards for major industry organisations, such as HP, Accenture, Unisys, NCR/Teradata, the Research Board, MasterCard and Visa. In 2007 he was nominated for CIO of the year in the FT Bankers Award.

"With his deep, firsthand knowledge of large-scale business and technology demands in the industry globally, Don will greatly strengthen SAP's ability to deliver on our strategic commitment to our banking and insurance customers around the world," said Stutz. "Having his kind of industry leadership within SAP will enable us to accelerate the already substantial momentum we have built to date, and help take us to the next level in the financial services industries."
