Revolut to open Berlin tech hub

Revolut has announced plans to open a technical hub in Berlin as the challenger bank eyes further European expansion.

The company said the hub will create up to 80 across engineering, data science and product management.

The centre, which will be officially opened in October, will be focused on localising Revolut’s product and services for the German and European market as the company looks to grow its 150,000 strong customer base in Germany.

The company said it was also looking to hire a local marketing and communications team in the coming weeks.

Revolut, was founded in the UK in 2015 and offers app-based digital banking services including a pre-paid debit card, currency exchange, cryptocurrency exchange and peer-to-peer payments.

Vlad Yatsenko , co-founder and chief technology officer at Revolut said: “There is an incredible amount of technical talent in Berlin, as we begin to scale our operations globally and expand our range of services, finding this kind of talent will be essential. We’re excited to begin our investment in Germany and create even more jobs in Berlin’s vibrant FinTech ecosystem.”
