PayPal launches pre-paid cash card

PayPal has teamed with InComm to launch a pre-paid card called PayPal My Cash Card. This will enable Americans to buy goods in-store and use it to top up their accounts for online purchases.

Writing on the company blog, Patrick Gauthier, head of emerging retail services, says: “Many of our 117 million users have told us that they love using their PayPal accounts online, with mobile devices and in store locations, but are looking for additional options to keep it funded. My Cash Card is perfect for consumers who prefer to use cash – but want flexibility to spend their money however they want to spend it.”

He adds: “After purchasing a My Cash Card, which are available today at more than 30,000 retail locations across the US, a user can simply log into the My Cash Card website and load the funds directly to their PayPal account using the PIN number on the back of their My Cash Card. If they do not have a PayPal account, they will have the option to simply create one.”
