ORNL FCU revamps mobile banking app

The ORNL Federal Credit Union in the US has updated its mobile banking app with the addition of unique PFM and community event features.

With the proportion of millennials using mobile phones for banking in the US expected to reach nearly 95 per cent by 2019, ORNL FCU said that it recognised the need to invest in its mobile app to cater to its growing demographic of younger users.

The credit union chose Kony’s cloud-based mobile platform to roll out the new app options, including the integration of personal financial management software, which allows members to view, access and manage all their finances, not just ORNL FCU accounts.

In what it claims to be an industry first, ORNL FCU has also created a community activities service, that provides app users with guides to local events, and even access to ticket sales.

Colin Anderson, president and CEO of ORNL FCU, said: “Our members not only want banking at their fingertips, but better service too – service they are not getting from the big banks. With Kony’s flexible mobile platform that lets us customise, we are able to provide members with value through convenience, experience and technology. Our partnership with Kony has helped us build a creative app that has put us well ahead of the pack, and allowed us to offer a mobile experience that is truly unique for our members and the community.”
