Nationwide online banking goes down

Nationwide Building Society customers have been unable to use online and mobile banking services today. A technical glitch has meant that online and mobile banking services have been down since this morning, while some customers have complained that cash machines are not working.

A statement on the Nationwide website notes: "We're sorry to have to tell you that our Online Bank is unavailable. We are making every effort to restore service as quickly as possible and will keep the service status page updated with our progress. We apologise for any inconvenience this will cause you. If your banking is urgent, we have other ways you can bank with us. You could try: Telephone banking; Using a fast cash machine or ATM; Visiting a branch during opening hours."

No timeframe has been given re. resumption of services.
