Nations Trust Bank launches mobile platform

Nations Trust Bank of Sri Lanka and Daon have launched a new mobile banking and lifestyle platform that utilises Daon’s biometric authentication capabilities.
The new app, named FriMi, is 100 per cent online and open to anyone with a smartphone. All FriMi accounts can be topped up by cash deposits at all Nations Trust Bank Branches, CDMs and FriMi Agents.
Users can also top up electronically via linked cards and accounts or direct digital fund transfers from any bank, including foreign remittances, and also by requesting and or receiving money from other FriMi users.
The IdentityX solution uses soft token, finger, face and voice authentication. It powers all of the customer authentication process flows including registration, set up of authentication methods, ongoing customer login and step-up authentication. Nations Trust Bank plans to enable biometrics across various sections of the bank, with multiple use cases.
Thilak Piyadigama, COO at the Nations Trust Bank, said: “In keeping with our commitment to providing progressive and convenient financial services, we chose to partner with Daon to provide our customers with the best user experience possible, while deploying a secure and scalable solution. Users have responded favourably to our apps and their capabilities. We are happy to report that adoption rates are ahead of expectations.”
Tom Grissen, CEO of Daon, added: “We are pleased to be working with Nations Trust Bank and provide world-class biometric solutions for its Mobile Banking and FriMi apps. IdentityX has the ability to seamlessly surface more authentication capabilities as they mature and support the needs of Nations Trust Bank as they continue to expand its digital platform.”
