Monitise/IBM look to multi-channel future

IBM has stepped up its agreement to sell Monitise’s Bank, Pay, and Buy technology. Its sales and specialist resources are focusing on a joint effort to provide clients with advice, solution design and delivery of the UK startup's mobile money service. Those clients will initially be financial institutions but ultimately also mobile network operators and any vertical requiring API connectivity to mobile payment and commerce functionality and content.

The two businesses have also announced that teams from Monitise’s development/integration business (aka Professional Services), including a number of contractors, will be transferred to IBM. They say that the collaboration will substantially increase Monitise’s ability to handle larger custom projects globally, in addition to implementing standardised solutions. Equally, the resources will enhance IBM’s ability to deliver existing and future Monitise-based mobile money solutions to customers.

“Today’s businesses require solutions that radically streamline and accelerate mobile adoption to reinvent the customer experience,” says Bridget van Kralingen senior vice president, Global Business Services, IBM. “Our deepening collaboration with Monitise, our strong cultural fit and shared vision for a multi-channel future, ensures that we are perfectly positioned to help our clients take full advantage of the mobile opportunity.”
