The London Stock Exchange has hired John Mackay ‘Mack’ Gill as CEO of its tech subsidiary MillenniumIT.
He joins from SunGard Data Systems where he was senior vice president, corporate development & strategy. Prior to this, Gill held a number of senior roles at SunGard, including president of SunGard Global Technology and president of SunGard Global Services. He replaces Millennium IT founder and current CEO Tony Weeresinghe, who will take on a global business development role and become non-executive chairman.
Weeresinghe says: “Millennium has had an extraordinary history since I founded it in 1996 and now provides market leading trading and capital markets technology to over 30 organisations worldwide, including London Stock Exchange Group. I am delighted that someone of Mack’s experience and expertise is now going to be leading MillenniumIT, as it moves to the next exciting stage in its development and I very much look forward to working with him.”
Gill comments “MillenniumIT is a global leader in its field and I am thrilled to be joining such an innovative and successful business. The evolving capital markets infrastructure and technology business offers many opportunities ahead, and I look forward to working with my new colleagues at MillenniumIT and London Stock Exchange Group around the world.”
