Exponential-e has designed and deployed a Virtual Private LAN Service (VPLS) network across the core sites of London Capital Group (LCG). The service, which has been rolled out as part of the company’s Business Continuity Planning (BCP) strategy, connects its London HQ with its business continuity sites in Slough and London, Docklands. The fully diverse resilient routes provide 1Gigabit capacity between the London HQ site.
The service also ensures that LCG, a predominantly online business with over 70,000 clients, is fully compliant with all necessary international finance sector regulations for data storage and disaster recovery. LCG’s decision to upgrade its BCP infrastructure follows similar moves from players in the spread betting, financial trading and gaming industries where latency and uptime are essential requirements for these businesses to run. In addition, Exponential-e has deployed a workplace recovery solution for the company. The uptake of the service guarantees its critical data is constantly backed-up and provides it with brisk access to all information in case of an unexpected outage.
Paul Marshall, IT support & service delivery manager at LCG, says: “Our infrastructure needs to be reliable and resilient; ready to provide an uninterrupted, high level of service to our customers at all times. This implementation of Exponential-e’s VPLS connectivity service in conjunction with the data recovery service, not only means our business will continue to operate consistently regardless of unexpected challenges, but also that we will continue to meet regulatory requirements. The uptime we now have gives us and our customers the guarantees necessary for an online trading business.”
