ICICI Bank launches app store

India’s ICICI Bank has introduced a new app store populated with its range of mobile banking apps for customers.

Account holders can now view of all the bank’s apps in one place and download them from Google Play, and shortly, from Apple. ICICI also launched three new apps to sit within its store – Insta Banking, Video Banking and mPassbook.

The bank said that Insta Banking was the first mobile app of its kind in India, allowing customers to initiate transactions such as cash deposits, cash withdrawals, requests for demand drafts and updates of personal information.

For transactions that still require a branch visit, customers can start the process through the app seven days ahead of time, then attend the branch to complete the process, with their request given in-branch priority.

Meanwhile, the Video Banking app allows the bank’s Wealth and NRI customers to carry out a video chat with customer service staff 24/7, while mPassbook enables customers to view their recent savings, credit card and PPF account transactions on their mobile phone.

Chanda Kochhar, MD and CEO of ICICI Bank, said: “We continue to leverage technology to provide a world-class banking experience to our customers. ICICI Bank has pioneered many innovative solutions for its customers like internet, mobile, and Tab and Touch banking among others.

“With these new mobile banking applications, we will offer our customers a unique and unparalleled experience in their interactions with the bank. I believe these apps will further propel the growth of mobile banking in the country.”
